Two things decide your quote.
Most of the back-and-forth over a removals quote comes down to two pieces of information: where you're moving from and to, and roughly what you're moving. Have those clear in your head before you pick up the phone and you can usually get a fixed price in a single call.
"Roughly what you're moving" doesn't mean an inventory. A sense of the size — a studio flat, a two-bed terrace, a full family house, or one large item — is enough to work out the van and the crew. If there's anything genuinely awkward, like a piano, a very large wardrobe or a shed's worth of garden equipment, mention it at that point rather than on the day.
Access is the other thing worth flagging early. Tight lanes around Poole Old Town and the Quay, or the parking realities out on the Sandbanks peninsula, are all workable — but they're much easier to plan for in advance than to discover at 8am. Tell us what the parking is like at both ends and we'll sort the rest.
- Both addresses, and your moving date
- Rough size — rooms, flat or full house
- Anything large or awkward
- Parking & access at both ends
- How much packing you want to do
- Anything that needs clearing, not moving

Decide how much you want to do.
Packing is the part people most often underestimate, and it's the easiest thing to hand over. You can do all of it, none of it, or the usual middle ground — you handle the clothes, books and kitchen cupboards over the preceding fortnight, and we bring boxes, wrapping and materials for whatever is left.
Flat-pack furniture is worth a specific mention. Beds, wardrobes and anything that arrived flat-packed originally tend to travel far better dismantled, and they're the items most likely to be damaged if they're moved assembled. We can take them apart before loading and put them back together in the new place, so it's not a job waiting for you at the end of a long day.
Whatever you decide, your belongings are covered — we're fully insured on every move, while we load, transport and unload.
Not everything is coming with you.
Every move turns up things that aren't worth taking: the wardrobe that won't fit the new bedroom, the shed contents, the sofa that's done its time, and — at the far end — a house's worth of flattened boxes and wrapping.
It's worth deciding what falls into that pile early, because it changes the job. Sorting it on the day means paying to move things you're about to throw away, and then arranging a separate clearance afterwards.
Because we also handle waste removal and clearances, we can clear the old place or take away unwanted items and packaging as part of the same job — one crew, one price, rather than passing you between firms.
- Furniture that won't fit the new place
- Garage, loft & shed contents
- Garden & green waste
- Packaging after the move
- End-of-tenancy clear-outs
Common questions before a move.
What do you need to know to give me a quote?
Where you're moving from and to, and roughly what you're moving. That's enough for us to give you a clear, fixed price with no obligation to go ahead.
Do you help with packing?
Yes. We can bring boxes, wrapping and materials, and dismantle and reassemble beds, wardrobes and flat-pack furniture so nothing gets damaged in transit. Just tell us how much you'd like to do yourself.
Will you do a small move or a single item?
Absolutely — from a single room, a studio flat or one large item up to a full family house. No move is too small or too large.
Are my belongings insured during the move?
Yes, we're fully insured on every move, so your belongings are covered while we load, transport and unload them.
Can you take away old furniture or rubbish when I move?
Yes. Because we also handle waste removal and clearances, we can clear the old place or take away unwanted items and packaging as part of the same job.
